Orchard Health Care belongs to the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center network, where Dr. Kanner is a member of the active medical staff.
Dr. Kanner looks to the superb specialist staff of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, for much of his patients’ referral and hospital care.
However, Dr. Kanner has strong ties to many other colleagues and institutions in the unsurpassed Harvard Medical School teaching network, where Dr. Kanner has been a faculty member for many years. These other Boston institutions include the Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
In addition, Dr. Kanner has close professional ties to the staff of two wonderful, local community hospitals, Beth Israel Needham and Newton-Wellesley Hospital, where he is also on the medical staff.
In seeking specialist or hospital care for his patients, the key issue Dr. Kanner considers, with the patient, is which person or institution will offer that patient the best care. Dr. Kanner looks first to the staff and facilities at BIDMC and its network, but if the patient’s needs (or preferences) are better met elsewhere, those specialists or institutions are promptly engaged to help the patient.
