Orchard Health Care is the small primary care medical practice founded in 2006 by Steven R. Kanner, MD, a highly credentialed and experienced internist. Dr. Kanner is a graduate and long-term faculty member of Harvard Medical School. Karen T. Isselbacher, MD, also a highly credentialed and experienced internist on the faculty of Harvard Medical School, joined the practice in the Fall of 2008.
Orchard Health Care is a membership medical practice, sometimes referred to as a “concierge” or “boutique” practice. The clinical offices are located in the close western suburbs of Boston.
Dr. Kanner’s and Dr. Isselbacher’s goal is to keep their patients healthy. Their clinical approach is proactive and focuses on health maintenance and careful control of unavoidable medical illnesses. They engage the help of top specialists at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and other Harvard teaching hospitals, such as Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, whenever needed to help a patient with serious illness.
Orchard Health Care is limited to approximately 450 adult patients per physician. The small size of the practice enables much longer appointments, better communications, and more detailed supervision of care. Dr. Kanner and Dr. Isselbacher love the science of medicine and the long-term patient relationships in primary care they have been privileged to have.

Dr. Kanner graduated from Harvard College in 1965 and Harvard Medical School in 1969. He has been in primary care clinical practice since 1979. Dr. Kanner is a long-time faculty member of Harvard Medical School and on the staff of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He truly enjoys his patients and the medical science that together enrich the practice of medicine.
